Prepare & Serve a Meal

A 6:00 pm dinner is served every night to residents and needy folks from the area.  We plan for about 30 servings.  Many COR men have poor teeth and cannot eat food items like raw vegetables that are difficult to chew.  Similarly, dessert is not essential.  Spaghetti, meatloaf, chili, well cooked pot roast, sandwiches, tuna casserole, potatoes and toppings, baked fish, baked chicken and stews are some of the regular dishes.

Food can be prepared and brought to the shelter, or prepared in the shelter kitchen.  Volunteers are encouraged to serve the meal and eat with the residents.  Clean up is usually performed by COR residents as part of their routine chores.  This is an ideal group opportunity.

Be Part of the Thrift Store

The store is open Monday through Saturday.  An assortment of interesting value-priced items await treasure shoppers.  Vouchers are issued to provide free clothing and household items for COR residents and needy people in the community.  You could greet the public, run the cash register, or sort donated items.

Be a Friend, or Do a Special Project

Be a friend to a guy one hour per week.  Perform an electrical, carpentry, or painting project.  Answer phones or be a roving helper.
